Research Paper

Governance & Society

Our research question revolves around researching the different ways female candidates in the United States utilize religious rhetoric and issues in their political campaigns. We want to understand not only how female candidates instrumentalize religion but also how it is utilized against them and how these two dynamics work together to affect their ability to be elected. To do this, we are examining female candidates across three prominent religious and political states. Our research ranges from analyzing campaign ads to the rhetoric used in debates.
